Google’s at it again…

Google recently acquired another company… This time it was Image America… They produced many of the black and white pictures right after Hurricane Katrina…

Here’s what Image-America.com says:

Here’s Google’s press release via a blog they setup about the acquistion:

Imaging America

I’m pleased to announce that we have acquired ImageAmerica, a company that builds high resolution cameras for the collection of aerial imagery.

Google Maps and Earth users are no strangers to ImageAmerica’s work — the company provided high resolution black and white imagery of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.

We’re excited about how ImageAmerica’s technology will contribute to our mapping services down the road. Since we’re in the research and development phase right now it may be some time before you see any of this imagery in Google Maps or Earth — we’ll keep you posted on this blog!

I am trying to figure out why Google is buying up everything they can get their hands on… If Google does something that your business does be ready to get bought out… Google appears that it wants to have everything in house…

I personally think this is great as long as they don’t buy up their competition because then you have “monopoly” laws and rules that get in the way… Let’s what Google buys next…

Perhaps Google will eventually acquire the United States Government.

  2. Jeromy: Yeh, that’s possible… with some things Google could probably do it better than the US Government…
