Day 5 of Extreme Days 2007

DAY 5: The last day, the last day, the last day, HOORAY but also sad… This year’s Extreme Days was a total success… The kids had an absolute blast and we made the world’s longest banana split what could be better… I had so much fun getting to know some of the kids and seeing them get closer and connected with God…

I am glad the event is over because it is a lot to pull off but I am more sad to see it over and the kids going back to normal summer life… I am really looking forward to next year’s EXTREME DAYS!!!

THE WORLD’S LONGEST BANANA SPLIT

That’s right here’s that suprise that I couldn’t talk about earlier… Pastor Alan, GACC’s Children’s Pastor, several months ago challenged the kids to get 200 childrens + volunteers to Extreme Days 2007 and they did it!!! So as a reward Pastor Alan and a team of volunteers created the world’s longest banana split (FYI: We called Guiness World Records and they don’t have one recorded, so it is possible we could get the OFFICIAL RECORD)…

Here’s the article we got from the Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://www.inrich.com/cva/ric/search.apx.-content-articles-RTD-2007-07-14-0152.html)

We were also on NBC 12, CBS 6, FOX 11, and CW13 on Friday evening at 5:30pm, 10pm, and 11pm…

I will post some more pictures/video later…

Day 4 of Extreme Days 2007

DAY 4: That’s right only one more day… I am actually kind of sad to see all the kids go there way… Today Wacky Willy and I walked around and did class photos… The kids really loved it… Then we had all the kids do a big group photo with all the props, Wacky Willy and Volunteer Staff…

The best part of today was seeing the kids really get into Praise and Worship… Dave Hicks (Worship Leader) asked the kids “are you ready to sing” and they all replyed yelling “YES”… Pastor Alan also asked the kids “are you ready to connect with God” and they all replyed screaming “Yes, we are ready”… I just think it is so great to see kids truly connecting with God…

Well one more day… and we have the big event tomorrow… I will check-in afterwards… Lata!!!

Day 3 of Extreme Days!!!

Day 3: Another great day at Extreme Days… Today we talked about BIG GOD!!! Pastor Alan in the general session talked about the verse JOhn 3:16 (For God so loved the world he gave his one and one son Jesus.) I thought that the kids really took it to heart… PLUS Wacky Willy is back and the kids love him… Also today Pastor Alan announced something really cool but I can’t talk about it until after Friday… But it’s sweet!!! I will post about it Friday and add pictures too… See ya around!!!

Day 1 and 2 of Extreme Days 2007

Well it’s been 2 days now and WOW… I am still pumped about Extreme Days…

DAY 1: July 9, 2007 was Day 1… The kids began to roll in and the adrenline started going… We had WACKY games and WACKY characters… EXTREME praise and worship, EXTREME classes, and even an EXTREME movie… The best part was seeing Wacky Wilimina get all upset at her brother and the kids beginning to not like Wacky Willy… Little did they know that this was all planned… Day 1 went great…

DAY 2: Today I really got into the closing session and the Praise and Worship… Today Wacky Willy (One of our kids characters) changed his mean ways and now is being friendly… The kids all love him again and pretty much mobbed him when he got off stage… Then Pastor Alan talked about friends… He had some really good stuff to say… I look forward to the rest of the week…

I’ll check back in tomorrow…

VBS ohhhh nooooo….

These words are forbidden in our children’s ministry “VBS”, we don’t like these initials… My church has always done Summer Day Camp which is a contemporary children’s summer camp during the morning for a week… 3 years ago we changed the name to Extreme Days… Ever since then Extreme Days is the highlight of the children’s ministry…

This year’s theme is THINK BIG…

We have all kinds of classes like Rock Climbing, Cheerleading, Jewly Making, Basketball and more… The event runs from July 9-13, 2007 ~ 9a – 12p… I really look forward to working it… See ya around…
