Interesting article…

I was recently emailed an article about churches by a friend… I wanted to highlight some points in it…

The U.S. religious marketplace is extremely volatile, with nearly half of American adults leaving the faith tradition of their upbringing to either switch allegiances or abandon religious affiliation altogether, a new survey finds.

…mainline Protestant churches are in decline, non-denominational churches are gaining and the ranks of the unaffiliated are growing…

Although evangelical churches strive to win new Christian believers from the “unchurched,” the survey found most converts to evangelical churches were raised Protestant.

Give Thanks!

Today being Thanksgiving, I felt it was appropriate to give thanks.

I am so very thankful for everything God has done for me this year. God has closed doors but has opened so many more. He has brought me success and things I want but above all God has provided through out the ups and downs and all arounds.

Thanks to my Pastors without them I wouldn’t know what to do. They all help in their own way. They are great friends, counselors, and great brothers in Christ.

Thanks to all my volunteer staff without them the church couldn’t get everything we need to get done on a weekly basis.

Thanks to my mom and dad for being there for me and paying for my college education amongst other things. Mom, thanks for always being able to listen and Dad thanks for always giving good advice (I hear it even when I act like I don’t).

Thanks to my little brother for being such a cool little brother. Just last night he brought me out to dinner at Outback. I love catching up with him and he is serving in the church and following the Lord (I couldn’t ask for more there).

Thanks to the Phillips Family for being my extended family. Alan is like a brother and Rebecca like a sister, plus the kids are so fun to hang with. But above the Phillips Family always has an welcoming attitude and they are just like family.

So thank you to all these people… This year has been a great one… Gotta go I’m headed to the Home Team Grill to serve Thanksgiving Dinner to the less fortunate and to get some video for future promos for the event…

You Tube + Oprah = Huge Numbers

I don’t watch Oprah but I came across this news story from a friend and began looking at more online…

Here’s the article: http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release.do?id=788149

So basically YouTube and Harpo Studios have combined to create an Oprah on YouTube channel…

An organization I work with (High Impact Living) has been requesting a non-profit channel for over 2 months now and still have yet to get it processed… I guess YouTube has other priorities… All we want is the capability to add a header banner on our page… Is that too much to ask for???

Well back to the Oprah YouTube deal… She had the founders of YouTube on her show today where they talked about the popularity of YouTube… They also talked about the “Evolution of Dance” guy and his new video… They even talked about how PDiddy only advertised his new fragerance on YouTube and it has been highly successful…

I believe that YouTube is the future for online videos… They are cool and in right now so get on the band wagon if you are not there yet…

Leadership

So I have to write a 3 page paper on Leadership… This is due in a couple of weeks but I wanted to get a head start on it…

lead·er·ship      [lee-der-ship] Pronunciation KeyShow IPA Pronunciation

–noun

1. the position or function of a leader: He managed to maintain his leadership of the party despite heavy opposition.
2. ability to lead: She displayed leadership potential.
3. an act or instance of leading; guidance; direction: They prospered under his leadership.
4. the leaders of a group: The union leadership agreed to arbitrate.

[Origin: 1815–25; leader + -ship]

While thinking about leadership this is not how I would have defined leadership… I believe Leadership involves Vision, Interpersonal Skills, and a little bit of elbow grease because I believe so many leaders are laissez-fair leaders…

I plan on posting some of my research findings as I write the paper… This is just a preview post…

Debits and Credits…

ATTN: Accounting people

NOT!!!

Well you would probably think when I talk about Debits and Credits that I am talking about something in accounting but I’m not… A friend in ministry (Marty Dewey) tonight was talking about debits and credits in people’s life… We have discussed this in the past and I thought it was necessary to share this insightful information…

Debits and Credits in a person’s life looks like giving to a person what he or she needs and then receiving back… So this can look like many different things… Listening to one’s problems and then asking them to listen to yours… So when I listen to your problems that’s credit on your account and debit on my account… When you listen to me that’s a credit on my account and a debit on your account… The debit and credits idea is great… I think all of us use it but we may not call it debits and credits…

There’s a new way for you think about listening to people’s problems or helping someone out consider it a debit and credit…

Well I hope this helps someone… Let me know…
