Doodle 4 Google

I just ran across this on Google.com.

“Doodle 4 Google is a competition where we invite K-12 students to reinvent Google’s homepage logo. This year we asked U.S. kids to doodle around the theme “What if…?”

Well, the entries are in, and we couldn’t be more impressed. We received thousands of wonderful doodles, and choosing 40 finalists for the public vote had to be one of the most difficult but enjoyable jobs at Google in the past few weeks.

So the kids have done their part, and we’ve done ours. Now it’s your turn to help out by picking your favorite doodles. Your votes will help us select a national winner to replace our usual logo on the Google homepage on May 22, 2008.”

Be sure and go and vote. I thought some of these kids graphics/drawing were REALLY REALLY good.

A bunch of updates in one post…

Okay so I have been very very busy… So I wanted to take a minute from the busyness and post a bunch of updates…

School:

It’s over!!! Well for the next couple of weeks… The ending of a semester is always fun, because I am done with those classes forever!!!

I am going to summer school (May 19-June 6 and June 30-July 30). I wanted to get some math classes out of the way.

Home:

Well my brother is OFFICIALLY a MARINE!!! I am very very proud of him. He left on Tuesday morning (0140) to go to Marine Combat Training and I already miss him. I won’t get to see him again until July 4th weekend.

Church:

Well, Pastor Joey resigned a couple of weeks ago, so I have been helping out more with the service planning and stuff. It’s been really fun though. I have been gotten to really know more of the Arts Leaders and other great people in the church.

Recruit, Recruit, Recruit. I recently challenged all of the Technology/Media Leaders to recruit 1 person a month for the next 4 months. If we can all accomplish this goal, that would be almost 40 new people in ministry. I personally have been recruiting and so far have about 6 new people in ministry, all of which are great people and very talented. I am sooo excited about this new department initiative.

Willow Creek Arts Conference 2008, I am going!!! YEH!!! I am really excited that I am going. Coming this year with me is Tori (Media Production Team Leader) and Marty (Music Director), we are all ready to learn and suck in all the information we can. As a side note: If you are going to the Arts Conference and want to meet up shoot me a comment back and maybe we can do coffee or something, I really want to network and meet other media/technology people.

Well that’s all the updates I have for now… Thanks for taking the time to read my post and looking at my blog…

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

School House Rocks – LIVE!!! Jr.

So last night we were invited to School House Rocks – Live, Jr. at Robious Middle School. Robious is where we have our Midlothian Campus.

So the school did a play on School House Rocks. I used to watch these when I was younger and I loved them!!!

The kids did a great job and I really enjoyed getting to watch it and not have to work!!!

Congrats to the School House Rocks – Live, Jr. Cast and Crew on a GREAT JOB!!!

Pics to come soon (when I get my laptop back)…

First day back to classes…

Today was also the grand opening day for the new Business and Engineering Schools… The Business Bldg is very very cool… I took some pictures (will upload later)…

A New Year is upon us…

The new year is coming up only in a matter of hours now…

I am reminded about all the things I have done this year…

This year has been great personally, at work, in school and at the church…

Thanks to everyone who has helped me out this year… I am very appreciative of those around me…

Some school updates…

Well this semester is almost over… I have one more exam at 1pm today and then I am done…

I am really excited about moving into the new Business Building (or Snead Hall) in January… The current business building just ain’t cutting it for all of the business classes and activities…

Leadership

So I have to write a 3 page paper on Leadership… This is due in a couple of weeks but I wanted to get a head start on it…

lead·er·ship      [lee-der-ship] Pronunciation KeyShow IPA Pronunciation

–noun

1. the position or function of a leader: He managed to maintain his leadership of the party despite heavy opposition.
2. ability to lead: She displayed leadership potential.
3. an act or instance of leading; guidance; direction: They prospered under his leadership.
4. the leaders of a group: The union leadership agreed to arbitrate.

[Origin: 1815–25; leader + -ship]

While thinking about leadership this is not how I would have defined leadership… I believe Leadership involves Vision, Interpersonal Skills, and a little bit of elbow grease because I believe so many leaders are laissez-fair leaders…

I plan on posting some of my research findings as I write the paper… This is just a preview post…
